Q: I'm a divorced lady in my early thirties with two children. I met a lovely man four months ago and we have dated intensively ever since. I thought our relationship was going really well but over the weekend he told me he's not looking for a serious relationship with me because of my children. I'm hurt and confused - what can I do to keep him?

A:Basically your boyfriend has told you he's not interested in a 'ready-made family.' This is his decision and rules him out as a long-term partner. I'm afraid you can't do anything to change this. Instead, you need to cut romantic ties with him so he doesn't hurt you even more, and find someone who is ready for both you and your children. A 'ready-made family' is not for every man, but there is a special man out there for you.
